No, I do not have kids. I am just super proud that what I do actually touches people’s lives. Not in the sense of fighting hunger and stuff, but helping people around the world enjoy themselves better. It is noble enough, I believe.
Last week our company had a party during the ADE. It took place in the Sugar Factory and all our DJs played there. The event was sold out, the air conditioning apparently failed on us, but everybody seemed to have a great time nonetheless. Nico (Masseyeff) did the warm up, which I personally think is a really hard job to do. There are not many people on the dance floor yet and they are all somehow skeptical what is going to happen during the night. The alcohol has not kicked in and everybody still smells good. He played more deep house and somewhat easy to take techno, which got people moving after a bit.
Then André Winter took the stage and delivered a very impressive LIVE performance. He only played for half an hour, because he still does not have many own productions. Funnily enough he does not even want to play more than one hour live. He said that whenever he sees a live act, he always get bored in the fifty-fifth minute. We laughed at him, but he was pretty serious. Apparently when he gets bored, he checks his watch (an old Casio with a calculator that he does not know how to use) and it is always exactly the fifty-fifth minute of the set. But yes, you should be checking on him on Beatport from time to time, because he has lots to offer.
After André, Ida Engberg played for a bit more than an hour. She is into more tech-house stuff now and the crowd enjoyed her. She is actually quite attractive and she looks like a little princess behind the decks. I like her! She is wonderful DJ!
Then it was the turn of the masters of techno. First Stephan Bodzin played. He is a wonderful artist, it is unbelievable that he spent so many years in the studio, away from people. He is just meant to be on stage. Stephan controls the audience in such an impressive way… He raises his hand and people go nuts. When I see him playing, I just like to look at him and just enjoy his performance. I am so looking forward to his new LIVE which should be mind-blowing, but as of now it is a bit far from being done. Hihii
After him it was Oliver Huntemann. He released a new artist album this spring, which I think has not received the needed attention, but sometimes people need time to discover good music. He was also playing some of the new releases from Ideal Audio, which is one of his labels and judging from the reaction of the people in the club, he was nothing but perfect. He is always somewhat reserved and does not smile much, but he is actually really enjoying what he is doing. All in all it was a great night and I am really proud to be part of the techno family. Stephan says that we are part of a village, not even a country, but I love our village.
