I finally spent money on music. To be honest I am pretty proud of myself. Last time I bought music was in Bulgaria and I am not quite sure how much of the money (if any) reached the artist.
I bought a track – Ojui – and the Xine EP by Sven Weisemann. I am becoming a bit obsessive as it seems, but he really impressed me on Saturday. Too bad that barely 30% of my 7 Euro will get to him.
Funnily enough I do not think he played much of his music on Saturday. I think it was brave of him to mix so many styles in one set – from tech-house to jazzy house and minimal, and he even played some disco. However, on Monday I talked to some “professionals”, who are significantly older and more experienced than him; they concluded that he has simply not found his style yet. I got a bit annoyed by this comment to be honest. Actually I think he has already, just it could be the case that certain market mechanisms push him more in one direction than the other. In any case I am looking forward to more of his music and hopefully he will be able (i.e. have the time and freedom) to produce movie soundtracks as he claims it to be one of his passions.
Young and talented people are really a pleasure to look at and listen to. They really manage to charge you with their enthusiasm and pure satisfaction with their work.
